Setting up an encryption key for video watermarks

You can generate your own encryption key for the watermark fingerprint and set the Archiver to use it.

To set up an encryption key for the video watermark:

  1. Run EncryptionKeyGenerator.exe in the Security Center installation folder.

The program generates two 1 KB files named fingerprint.bin and private.bin and saves them in the installation folder. The first file contains a random 20 Byte initial fingerprint used for the encryption. The second file contains an RSA 248-bit encryption key. These two files will be different every time the program is executed.

  2. Make a copy of fingerprint.bin and private.bin and store them in a safe place.
  3. In Config Tool, open the System task, and click the Roles view.
  4. Select the Archiver, and restart the role.
  5. If you have a secondary server assigned to the Archiver role, copy the same custom encryption files to the Security Center installation folder on that server.

The next time the Archiver records video to disk, the video files are watermarked and the fingerprint is encrypted using the new encryption key.
