Encrypting confidential video streams using smart cards
To encrypt a confidential (private) video stream so that the confidential video can
only be viewed by the Security
Desk operator who
owns the smart card, you must install the smart card public key on the Archiver
server.
A system integrator or system administrator must install on the Archiver the smart card
public key exported from the Security
Desk
client workstation that has the card reader connected and working.
To encrypt a confidential video stream using a smart card:
On the Security
Desk client workstation,
insert your smart card into the card reader.
From the Config
ToolVideo task, select an Archiver or a specific camera.
If you selected an Archiver, click
the Camera default settings tab.
In the Recording
section, click Show advanced settings.
In the
Encryption section, enable
Encryption.
If you selected a camera, click the Recording tab.
Click Show advanced settings.
In the
Encryption section, enable
Encryption.
Install the smart card public certificate on the Archiver.
In the Certificates section, click and select the smart card public certificate that you
previously exported.
Click OK to
accept the certificate.
Click Apply to save your
changes.
From the Security
DeskMonitoring task, validate that you can only view the video stream
when the smart card is inserted in the client workstation.
The video stream is now encrypted and can only be viewed when the smart card is inserted
in the Security
Desk client workstation.
